Bailey’s Signature Story: From Engineer to Entrepreneur

This post is the third in a series of articles focusing on WiseStamp users who have started their own businesses and want to share with us some of the valuable lessons that they’ve learned along the way.
Today we have with us Bailey Richert.
Can you tell us about your business and how it got started?
I am a business coach who helps individuals launch profitable online enterprises as “infopreneurs”: respected experts in their fields creating value and generating income by sharing their life experience, knowledge and passions with others in a manner that supports their ideal lifestyles.
If you have a passion you love, I’m the one who can help you turn it into a business so you can ditch your 9-to-5! That’s what I did back in 2013. I was working as an environmental engineering consultant when I realized I wanted to leave the cubicle grind in favor of a life of freedom, filled with more travel, philanthropy and time with family.
I quit the corporate world to study entrepreneurship at MIT with the goal of starting my own online business. An avid traveler, then and now, I began by writing ebooks, teaching online courses and speaking about safe, savvy and sustainable travel. Others started to notice my success, so I began teaching about how to build profitable online enterprises, which has become my full-time focus over at BaileyRichert.com.
What has been your biggest challenge and how have you overcome it?
My biggest challenge actually was in my mindset when I decided to quit my job.
I have multiple degrees in engineering, and from society’s perspective, the job and lifestyle I had living the 9-to-5 was ‘the dream’. I had to face friends and family who didn’t understand my decision, including those who thought I was making a mistake. It was tough to believe day after day I was doing the right thing, especially before I was profitable, but now that I have the life I always dreamed of, I know it was the right choice.
Can you share your favorite tip for growing your business or finding new clients?
If you run an online business, especially selling digital products, an effective sales funnel is critical to be able to consistently bring in new leads. It took me a while to master this concept, and it was only after the amazing software Clickfunnels came around that I felt I could implement sales funnels in a manner that was both effective and also easy. I highly recommend that everyone check it out!
How do you use your WiseStamp signature to grow your business?
A critical first step of a sales funnel is attracting new leads to your business with a free opt-in. I have made the home page of my website a landing page where I encourage all visitors to opt in. By putting my home page in my WiseStamp signature app (or, the URL of your landing page, if you prefer), I’m directing traffic directly from my email communications into my funnel! I have several clients who have told me they bought a product of mine from this process.
