As a small business owner, the importance of becoming an expert in all fields of marketing is a must. Understanding the general processes of what an SEO professional does is key in order to succeed.

For such purposes, we have interviewed the talented Amotz Harari, the SEO Manager at Wisestamp who will explain to us what he does daily, following tips that all SMB owners should take into consideration.

What is SEO in short?

SEO stands for Search engine optimization, which is related to how, why, and if your webpage reaches the top of the Google Search Results Page (SERP) when you hit a specific query on search engines.

Building a strong page requires a solid base in all aspects, all the way from copywriting, Information Architecture, to design. Providing a clear navigational system will help search engines index your site quickly.

Let’s hear a little bit more for Amozt himself, he mentions that being an SEO professional is very interesting and self-fulfilling yet at the same time, it is an extremely difficult field that is not suitable for just anyone.

This article will give further insights from the talented SEO at Wisestamp, in addition he will discuss major tips that all small business owners should take into consideration.

1) Invest in a professional SEO services

When building a strong site you need to make sure that the site is easy to navigate. In addition to being unique and different from all competitors, you must aim to solve the problem that led users to your page in the most compressive way.

As Amotz explains, creating a strong SEO for your site can be compared to building an effective airport terminal. What we need to take into consideration is how easy it is to get from gate B7 to Gate 4C, and if world travelers (which can be represented as the target audience) can understand the directions in the quickest way possible since they cannot afford to miss your flight!

Your site should make it easy for your users to find what they need with no delays.

With all that being said, SEO is hard to get right. We strongly recommend getting a professional SEO to help you build your webpage and limit the complexity.

SEO is no walk in the park, it’s a difficult journey to embark on, however, if you do not have the budget for it, it is possible to learn, it just requires a certain amount of patience and hard work.

2) Research your users’ needs

This point is pretty straight forward for anyone in the field of business. Understanding exactly what your audience needs is a basic rule of thumb that should not be underestimated. This step should be established way before investing all this time and money on hiring professionals.

I cannot stress enough that figuring out what your users want is not a one day task, it takes a tremendous amount of time, and that’s ok!! It’s better to start off slow and make your way up rather than starting to throw your dollar bills at anyone who you think is suitable.

planning users needs

There are many ways you can research your audience, start by asking your users what they need in order to provide them with the best solution.

3) Create Comprehensible Content

As Amotz explains, Google is becoming more and more aware of “normal people speech” rather than machine speech. This means that as we progress into the 21st-century Google is shifting the way it comprehends languages and indexes content.

While keeping all this in mind, creating content that is simple and understandable is the way to go. For example, if you were to write content that is super complex and hard to understand the majority of people will refrain from your page. unless, you have a specific target audience who understands the complex language.

According to studies the best way to produce content is using a “matter of fact” tone of voice and adjusting your wording to the level of an 8th grader. If you exceed the level of an 8th grader, your content can come across as condescending, leaving your users frustrated.

There is a saying that “less is more”, the same concept goes for SEO content creation. Be informative and try to narrow down the wording as much as possible so that your content is condensed and straight to the point. If at any point you are questioning the presence of a line or two, oftentimes you don’t need it, so get rid of it!

How we optimize content in Wisestamp

Cleaning pages that are no longer relevant or updating pages by redirecting them to an updated version. Redirection is used when a page is outdated, oftentimes an SEO professional will take that already existing page and link it to a new updated version.

All pages that do not fit the current structure of our website will be removed. We specifically want to focus on redirecting pages so that we can preserve any traffic that the old page had.

Creating new and improved content that will help our WiseStamp users resolve their pain points. This can be done by publishing “how-to articles”. Or even producing content on the blog that can be helpful to our users in any kind of way.

This will indirectly help with branding the WiseStamp brand. In addition, we’ll be focussing on new and improved user-friendly design, especially for mobile devices.

Final Thoughts

Creating content that is well-optimized by the product description can be an experience of its own. There is always room for improvement, so if reaching out to a professional is what it takes, invest your time, and get one.

There are multiple ways of describing a product or service but make sure to use a user-friendly tone of voice and don’t forget to highlight elements that are high in demand, this will make you stand out.

In order to be successful in your business niche, filling in the missing gaps by creating uniquely helpful content that solves real user problems is key.
