Emails. We send them every day to our friends, colleagues, clients, and even family. According to the Radicati Group Email Statistics Report, 205 billion emails were sent in 2015, and this figure is projected to increase by 3 percent every year. That’s quite an opportunity for marketers.

I certainly contribute to these statistics because as a marketer, I need to send hundreds of them per day to keep my customers updated and generate new leads. Frankly speaking, I do not think that email marketing will go extinct anytime soon because it helps to connect with the customers directly. For me, it has been a great platform to get my ideas to my leads and potential leads with one click.

Question: How a company or individual can use email signature to increase sales and forge new relationships?

As mentioned before, the main advantage of emails is that they help to connect with potential customers directly. This is a key that can open many doors for you. Let me show what I mean with a simple example.

Email to the customer:

Dear customer,

Thank you for choosing our product, ABC.

ABC provides an innovative way to connect with colleagues and create a video chat regardless of their location.

Please message me if you have any questions or in case you need to try product demo version.

Best Regards,

ABC

What do you think of that email? Is it good to send to a customer? Well, it can be better. In fact, it has a problem. The big problem with this email is that the sender does not provide any flexibility to the customer or time when it is possible to receive the demo version. As the result, customer service needs to send once more message to agree on the time for the demo version, which could be done in one email. Why do the same thing twice, right?

How the above email should have looked like:

Dear customer,

Thank you for choosing our product, ABC.

ABC provides an innovative way to connect with colleagues and create a video chat regardless of their location.

Please message me to schedule one-on-one call every day during business hours based on your availability for the demo version of the product.

In the second version of the email, the sender provides a fair deal of flexibility for the customer to schedule one-on-one call whenever is convenient for him or her.

My point here is that a marketer needs to give the customer or potential leads as much information in the email as they need to contact you. The signature is a perfect way to do that. Let’s work some more and perfect that letter.

Social Media Accounts

The customer who receives the email would rather connect with the sender via social media because this way they might be more comfortable. Both personal and corporate accounts can be used in this case. According to Alan Stern, a senior marketer from Proessaywriting, social media can take the relationship with the customers to a new level, which improves the marketing and expands the reach. Here is how it can be done in an email signature:

Website

A personal or corporate website should also be included in email signature to make it more effective. In this case, the websites will act as a landing page, so the lead will be directed directly to the action you want them to take. Moreover, putting the website of the company also increases the awareness about it. Here is how it might look like as a signature:

Blog

If you want more people to visit your blog, the information about it should be included in the signature as well because it can provide fresh visitors. The blog should be provided with visible calls to action to ensure that the visitors check out the latest articles. Here’s how it is done:

Marketing Offer

Your business might have some promotional offers for the leads and you need to raise awareness about them. Email signature is a great opportunity for that. For example, if you have made an ebook that you need to promote, include it in the signature like that (by the way, the link actually contains a great ebook about advertising on Twitter:
